Domain Transfer problems and Domain Privacy
Recently, I 'm transfering one of my domain from one domain vendor to another. I had some unexpected problems when transfering my domain.
The very BIG problem is that I had the 'Domain Privacy' option enabled with my domain name. It turn out to be the pain point that cause my problem.
My Domain Transfer Process
Following the Godaddy domain transfer guide, I unlock my domain name from my previous vendor and initiate the domain transfer process.
Now According to the guide, I should have recieved the 'Transaction ID' and 'Security Code' that I could use to authorize my transfer at the Godaddy Domain Manager, But I check my email for several times and I received nothing!
It is the 'Domain Privacy' option that cause the problem!
By turning on the 'Domain Privacy', Godaddy could not query whois database of the correct admin email of your domain which is the very meaning of the word 'Privacy' that your contact information will be invisible to the public! So Godaddy could not send email to that domain admin email which contain the 'Transaction ID' and 'Security Code' !
I disable the 'Domain Privacy' option and then I received the email and the rest of the process is easy now!
By the way, The final step require we login into our previous domain vendor to accept the transfer or It would take you 5 days for the transfer to work out! By accepting the transfer , the domain transfer process finish right away!
